Department of Dermatology Establishes the Stuart Maddin Leadership Strategy Fund

Vancouver, B.C. - June 5, 2010 - In honour of Professor Emeritus Dr. Stuart Maddin's 90th birthday and his 58 years of service to the field of dermatology, the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at UBC has established the Stuart Maddin Leadership Strategy Fund.

Dr. Maddin has held leadership positions in most major Dermatology organizations, including the Canadian Dermatology Foundation, the Canadian Dermatology Association, the American Dermatological Association, the International Committee of Dermatology, and the International League of Dermatologic Societies. He has authored over 60 articles and 8 textbooks in the field of dermatology, and as Editor-in-Chief of the Skin Therapy Letter, still assists in the production of every issue. In the field of therapeutics, he has tirelessly championed for new treatments and innovations in dermatology, working with industry to bring new therapeutics to patients, and founded the ongoing Dermatology Update Symposium, which showcases skin treatment innovations.

The Stuart Maddin Leadership Strategy Fund will be used to further advance dermatologic therapeutics, leadership, and mentorship, and represents an enduring legacy for the academic contributions that Dr. Maddin has championed throughout his career.
